Blog Posts Rules of the Road

Introduction to Class Blog: We’ll be using this site for teacher-to-student communication as well as student-to-student communication. My goal is to do at least one blog post per week. Generally I will post on Monday and you have until Friday to complete the weekly blog by leaving a comment.

Ground Rules: Before we get started we’ll have to set some ground rules. First of all, all postings to this site must use school appropriate language. When you post, write in complete sentences. Key your first and last name at the end of your post so I know who posted it (all posts are worth points). When commenting on another student’s post, keep your comments non-personal. You can agree or disagree with a comment but refrain from sarcasm and/or put-downs. State your position on the issue at hand and why you feel that way.

Your first post assignment: In a Word document respond to the following. When you are finished, spellcheck and proofread - be sure to key your first/last name at the end.
  1. Have you ever blogged before?
  2. What do you want to learn in this class?
  3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan.
Quote:  The future depends on what we do in the present. -  Gandhi.

Now, copy and paste your response as a comment on this blog using the comment link bottom right of this post.  Ask if you don't see it.

Set-up a Yahoo Account if you don't already have one.  If you are going to use it for only school, you can set your user name as bhs followed by your student ID number.

  1. Yes I have blogged before
In this class I would like to learn about computers
This means that what we do right now, will effect what happens in the future. For example if I study really hard go to a good college. I could become president of this great country one day. Or the fact that the twin towers how hit we were probably going to war.

    1. Have you ever blogged before- no.
    2. Anything possible as long as we work at a steady pace not like 2 days for 4 big assignments.
    3. To me the quote means that what we do today can affect the future. Also we need to make better choices so when we’re older our children will have a better life than what we might have had. Besides that choices like going to college can affect our future for example if we were to go to college and get a degree we could get a very good job when we’re older, or not going to college could mess up your life cause without a college degree you’d end up with a dead end job like working at Wendy’s McDonalds or taco bell. So we need to stay on the right track for a better future.

  3. 1. No I have never blogged before this class.
    2. This year in Online A I would like to learn how to blog.
    3. The quote “the future depends on what we do in the present” was said by Gandhi. This quote means to me that are actions can affect our future. If we are making bad decisions now were going to have to deal with the consequences in the future whether it be tomorrow or some time down the road. If we are making good decisions now than hopefully the future, or tomorrow, will go a lot more smoothly.

  5. 1. Have you ever blogged before?

I have not blogged before. I never found the time to do so.

    2. What do you want to learn in this class?

I would enjoy learning how to use the resources out in the internet to help me advance ins school. Resources for classes like English and Math, and how to find scholarships.

    3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan.
“The future depends on what we do in the present.” - Gandhi

The future is limitless and unknown. Every choice we make and every path we take drives us toward a different future. If we make bad decisions now, how can we have a good future? What we do in the present will push our lives and bring us closer to the future. It can be something as simple as if I eat this chocolate bar instead of an apple, then in 20 minutes I may be hungry again, or something that is much more complex. Choosing between colleges can change the future dramatically. From the people you meet to the types of classes you’ll be in, we need to realize that the future always can change, it’s the present we can’t have a second chance on.

  6. 1) no I have never blogged before
    2) I am willing to learn everything you are teaching.
    3) I think this means that whatever you choose to do now, will change the results of what could happen in the future. Which means if you do good now you will do good in the future, if you do poorly you will do poorly in the future. or if you’re a person who doesn’t care about much you will not do good in life.

  7. No, I have never blogged before. I hope to learn from this class how to use the computer better and become more knowledgeable about computers and how to use them better.
The quote by Gandhi means to me that what you do now will shape your future. If you spend your time wisely and work hard now then later on you will have more opportunities in what you do. On the other end if you spend all your time not caring and not working hard then when you are older you opportunities are limited in what you can do. I can put this into action by making sure I work hard and spend my time wisely.

  8. 1-No I never blogged before.
2-How to work more with computers.
3-Whatever you do now can affect your life in the future. Example is like if you do poorly in school your actions will more likely give you a F on your report card. So to put those words onto action don’t ever give up and great things will come to you in the future. If you do bad things now nothing but bad luck will come to you in the future. So that’s what I think those words mean.

  9. 1. I have blogged once before in the junior high for a class assignment but that was it.
    2. I want to learn how to get good at using computers because I don’t know much about them, I would also like to learn how to do different things about them that I do not already know.
    3. The quote “the future depends on what we do in the present” by Gandhi means to me that what we are currently doing today in the world can change the future, or help it. That the future all depends on how we do things or what we are doing today, and that it can, and will affect the future. An example might be maybe if you decide to go green and help try to save the environment then later on in the future we might have a cleaner earth. That is what Gandhi’s quote means to me.

  10. – No, I have not blogged before.
    – I would like to learn how to blog.
    - The quote means that we need to know that the way we act affects our future. If we do something illegal or any kind of harm to our lives it will affect our future for a short or a life period of time.

  11. 1.No, I have never blogged before.
2.I want to learn how to blog and how to search for things on the internet better.
3.This quote means that if we start to do harmful things and not care about the future then the future will be a harmful place to live. If we do good things now to make the world a better place than our future looks bright. Whatever we do in the present will affect what happens in the future. Everyone can help put this into action by taking precautions and doing things that are helpful for the environment instead of doing things that are hurtful.

  12. 1. Have you ever blogged before? No I have never blogged before.
    2. What do you want to learn in this class? I would like to learn how to use a blog and some more computer skills.
    3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan.
The future depends on what we do in the present- Gandhi.
What this quote means to me is what you do now in the earliest part of your life will help make up some of the choices that you make in the future. You also should do what you can to make your present great, so you will have success in your future. You should remember what you do now can still affect you when you grow up, so do what you can to make your present and your future great.

  13. 1.) No, I have never blogged before.
2.) There is nothing specific I would like to learn in this class.
3.) This quote means exactly what it says to me, as there is little else it could be interpreted as, and the easiest way to put it into action is to simply think before you act.-Luke Rutkowski

  14. 1. Have you ever blogged before?

No I have never blogged before.

    2. What do you want to learn in this class?

I would like to learn how to do more things on a computer.

    3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan.

The quote that was posted on the blog means everything we do now affects our futures. What that means is that if I were to take a Spanish class and like it a lot then perhaps one day I would become a Spanish teacher. Or another example would be if I choose to go to college one year and stay in it would better my future, and help get a good job that I like to do.

  15. Often times students think the things they do today don't effect the future. They are wrong! Your actions have a direct impact on your future. Think about where you want to be five years from now. Then make a plan. What are you going to do to make it happen?

Posts after this will not be accepted.
