  2. Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life?

I have given it thought and I am afraid for what I am leaving out there.

How do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring?

It makes me feel better about keeping what I share to a minimum.

Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit?

I just share what I think doesn’t matter to another person. Inside jokes and things about my gecko are all I mainly share.

Search on Google one of your parent's name and follow the links - what information did you find that was accurate?

I just found different people that weren’t my mom.

Did anything you find surprise you?

Yes. Even though I didn’t find my mom, I did find addresses and phone numbers to people I don’t even know.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of have this type of information so readily available?

It can be very dangerous for my mom and me. If I can find someone else’s information so readily, I can only assume someone could search for our names and find that same information on us.

  3. 1) No i have not given much thought about our "tracks". I don't care if they check our stuff. If we didnt want them to see it we shouldnt be posting it on the internet. No not really just make sure you dont post private stuff out there. Even if your page is private theres always wayys around that stuff.
I searched both my parents and didnt find any information on them.

  4. No, I have never really given it might thought to how many tracks I leave and it has never even crossed my mind how my tracks may impact my life. I honestly feel that it is a good thing for future implores to check facebook and see who it is that they are really hiring. I think that if you have nothing to be ashamed of then you have nothing to be worried about. There are some things that you can do to protect yourself online without becoming a hermit. For example you can make sure that you do not post anything embarrassing about yourself online, you can limit the amount of accounts you make so your personal information is out there is little as it has to be. Also when you create an account on a website try to give out as little of information as possible. If it not required then do not put it in.
On Google I searched my mom’s name. I found a lot of information of a lot of different “Roberta Horns” but only one link was true. There were links to twitter and other accounts but they were not my mom. The only link that was hers was the link to her facebook page. Nothing really surprised me though because I know if you search a name online you can probably find the specific person that you are looking for. Some disadvantages are that other people that you may not really know can search you and get information about you that you don’t want them to know. An advantage of the information being so available is that you could try to search an old friend or family member that you have lost contact with to try to talk to them or you could search a person if they have a business that you want to find more about. There are many advantages and disadvantages of this information being to available so we need to be careful about what we put online.

  5. Answer the following: Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life? Not really before we watched to video and class, it makes you think about the things you post and talk about. How do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring? Hmmm, well it’s not something that i really give thought into but i think it’s a way that they figure out whether you are good for the job or not. Are there ways you can limit or protect you without becoming a hermit? Yes you can watch some of the things that you do on the computer and keep in mind that other people can see and read what you do.

    3) Search on Google one of your parent's name and follow the links - what information did you find that was accurate? Nothing really, my mom doesn’t really have any websites except a Gmail. Did anything you find surprise you? Nope. What are the advantages and disadvantages of have this type of information so readily available? You can figure out something’s that you need to know and sometimes it’s not good because people can get some information you don’t want them to get from you.

  6. 1) Digital Native: View video. 2) Answer the following: Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life? Not really. But when we watched this video i relized that it is kind of creepy. How do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring? I never thought about it, but I think it has it can be a good thing, and a easy way to find out who your about to hire. Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit? Yes, there are privacy settings on facebook. And watch the things you post, or say because when someone reads something you write, it gives them an image of who you are.

  7. A. No i have not put that much thought due to the fact that the only kind of photos or real information i have on the computer is facebook...and nothing on my facebook is inappropriate or wrong. So im not worried about my digital footprint.

    B. I searched both of my parents through google and yet i found no information on them. So that concludes my opinion. I dont personally care about my digital foot print!

  9. 2. I have kind of thought about the tracks that I’m leaving, and everything I do will affect me and others around me in the future. I think it’s pretty cool that my employers will know more about me and who I am over the internet. Yes, just don’t share the vital information like your credit card number or your social security number.
    3. There wasn’t much information on them because they are rarely on the internet and on facebook. There wasn’t really anything that was surprising other then I couldn’t find them. The advantages of having this little information would be that it is hard to find them and steal their information, while the disadvantages would be that it would be really difficult for family members to contact them when they wanted to talk.

  10. Answer the Folowing:
1.) I'll admit I haven't put much thought in the impact my digital footprint would have on my life, but I haven't done anything wrong yet, so I should be okay as long as I don't in the future.
2.) I don't really care that 40% of employers checking social sites such as Facebook because I don’t use mine, and only made it to complain to a business with a couple thousand other people.
3.) There are probably many ways to protect yourself without becoming a hermit, the first coming to mind being simply watch what you do on the internet, and don’t do anything stupid.

    III.)
1.) I found little information as my parents aren't very public with their information.
2.)No, I found nothing that surprised me, although a woman with my mother's name was sentenced to prison for dunk driving March 9th 2009, but that was a completely different person.
3.)Advantages, you can find information you need with relative ease. Disadvantages, anything you put out there, someone else could find.

  11. 2)No, I haven’t given much thought about the tracks I am leaving, I have never thought about the tracks it may have on my life just because I don’t put anything on the internet that I wouldn’t do in front of my friends and family. I think that, that is a good idea so employers can see if someone they hire is trustworthy and will show up. You can protect yourself by not putting personal information on the internet.
    3) The information that I found that was accurate was my dad’s former addresses and our current address and our relatives were all accurate. Nothing really surprised me. Well the advantages are if you want to find someone you haven’t had contact with someone it would be easy to find them, but it is really easy to find people so anyone could search anyone they wanted too.

  12. 1.I haven’t given much thought about the tracks that I am leaving and what impacts that they might have on my life.
2.I think it’s good that people check Facebook before hiring incase that persons someone who does bad things. I’m not that worried about it because I don’t have anything on there that is bad.
3.Ways that you can limit or protect yourself are by not using your real name and not giving details about yourself.
4.I searched my dad on the internet and the information that was accurate was that he’s 44 and the relatives that were listed were my mom, grandma, grandpa, and my aunt. Nothing really surprised me except for the fact that all that information was on the internet. The advantages of this are that you can find out more information about someone that you just met to see what their past is like. The disadvantages are that people can figure out information about you.

  13. No, I haven’t thought about that. A way I could protect myself is I would just not add people that I’m not very close with. Or I wouldn't add people that I don’t want to know things about me. I found my dad's name and our old address on whitepages.com. This surprised me because I am kind of freaked out that our information is on here for everyone to see. Some advantages could be that old family members or lost family could search you and find you. A disadvantage could be that stalkers or other random people could easily find you without you knowing.
